The Nepal Ophthalmic Society Recognizes Dr. Chundak Tenzing’s Career

From leading eye camps in Nepal’s mountainous villages to performing hundreds of corneal transplants to advancing research on the causes of blindness, the work of Seva’s Global Medical Director, Dr. Chundak Tenzing, has always been grounded in service.
That service was recognized when Dr. Tenzing received the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Nepal Ophthalmic Society. This well-deserved honor celebrates decades of unwavering service, clinical excellence, and visionary leadership in advancing eye care across Nepal.
Dr. Tenzing has devoted his career to restoring sight and strengthening eye health care across Nepal. A champion of patient-centered care and high-quality systems, he has spent decades walking alongside communities, building programs, mentoring providers, and ensuring that even those in the most remote regions can access the care they deserve.
Two principles guide Dr. Tenzing’s work: “Be very kind, and don’t compromise on quality of care or standards.” He continued, “My teacher told me to be of service. The best service is local capacity.”
His legacy is one of clinical excellence and, even more so, of compassion, meeting people where they are and helping them see a brighter future. Seva Foundation is profoundly grateful for his lifelong service and dedication to upholding the dignity of all people.
