

We were saddened to learn of the passing of Bob Weir on January 10th. Bobby, as his friends knew him, was a co-founder of the Grateful Dead and one of the most generous spirits in American music. For more than 60 years, he took to the road, bringing people together through the sheer power of showing up and playing.
Bob believed in a kind of world where music and compassion move in the same direction. His support of our work — the concerts, the presence, the genuine care — meant more to us than we could easily put into words. He understood that sight restored is a life reopened, and he wanted to be part of that.
His family said his final performances at Golden Gate Park last summer were not farewells, but gifts. That feels right to us. Everything Bobby gave felt like a gift.
We’ll miss him. We’re grateful he was our friend.
