In 1967, Tom Anderson was studying at UC Berkeley when he was exposed to Eastern religions and the consciousness-expanding zeitgeist of the 60s. As a result, he found a way to travel across Asia through India and Nepal. “Deep travel like this has the power to reveal the connected humanity of people everywhere,” he said.
The warmth of the people and their extreme needs instilled in him a desire to intervene on their behalf. Later, when he heard of the inspirational work of Ram Dass and Larry Brilliant, he saw the opportunity to support their efforts as a clear way to help out in this arena.
“So little from us, directed in the right way, makes a huge difference in the lives of many,” Tom said. “Keeping up the connection between the people who need this help and Seva has been a gratifying way to contribute to this work.”
