It’s Like Coming Back to Life

“It would be wonderful to regain my eyesight. I would like to give back to my family for all of this.”

These words belong to Oscar Rios, a 62-year-old proud father from Paraguay. For decades, Oscar was the person his family leaned on. When cataracts stole his sight, everything changed. Because a routine surgery was out of financial reach, he spent a full year in total blindness. 

Oscar didn’t just miss the light. More than anything, he missed being the pillar his family could count on, instead of having to rely on them to get by day to day.

You didn’t let his story end in the dark.

Open for a dad joke

Dads are spect-ocular! (Sorry not sorry, we’ve been saving this one for a while…)

But really, some dads do it all. They carry us on their shoulders, lift us up to new heights, and always have a “dad joke” or two up their sleeve.

All for the smiles on their kids’ faces.

Shakeela Bibi, a bright-eyed 14 year old girl from Pakistan, knows this all too well. After her mother passed away, her dad, a popcorn salesman, took care of her and did all he could to bring her joy.
