Yep, and a popular fundraiser for Seva returns in person!
It was raining in Portland, OR, but the Balaji Temple was aglow with partygoers wearing traditional Indian colors: saffron yellows, scarlets, and magentas. Onstage was Indian-American singing group Soor Aur Saptak (SAS) holding its 12th annual concert benefiting Seva.
“What an amazing ride it has been to present our Soor Aur Saptak program!” said Mini Jairaj, co-founder and singer of Soor Aur Saptak. “Where words fail, music speaks. Music goes beyond the confines of color, gender, ethnicity, national origin, education, language or physical attributes. All you need is a sensitive mind, an open heart, and a willing ear to hear. I am so glad I have been associated with Soor Aur Saptak from day one and in the process, we have been able to help hundreds of thousands of children with screening, eyeglasses, and surgeries.”
Anjali Bhide, co-founder and SAS “iron lady” added, “In the 2022-2023 year ending in June, we have been able to raise a total of $52,894. A big shout out to the generous and kind Portland community which gives year after year to Seva Foundation’s worthy mission of ‘Restore Sight’. We have been able to perform even through the tough COVID times, and we were so excited to perform in person this year. We are looking forward to an even bigger extravaganza next year, which will be our 13th glorious year.”
In the last 11 years, SAS has raised over $425,000 to support Seva Foundation’s eye care programs.
