Seva piloted primary eye care Vision Centers (VCs) in Nepal in 1989 to provide critical eye care services to people living in remote villages scattered across the Himalayas. Since then, Seva has established 266 VCs across 12 countries, bringing access to eye care to over 29 million people.
- The Belauri VC in Kanchanpur District, Nepal is the busiest, treating more than 12,000 patients in 2023-24.
- The most remote VC is the Namka VC in Nepal. There is no motorable road to the nearest village, Simikot, which is 31 miles away.
- VCs employ 1-3 staff members from the local community, expanding job opportunities and strengthening economic growth.
- Seva plans to establish at least 40 more VCs worldwide in the coming year.
