Dear Friend,
What happens when committed public health professionals unite with a community of supporters to take on one of the biggest challenges?
You get it done!
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the progress that Seva and our teams have been making. Our analytics from this past year show that more people than ever are accessing eye care services through Seva-developed networks.
To put it simply, more moms, dads, and children are able to see, and because of it, more people are living independent lives. Individuals are in school learning, out in the community earning a living. We know firsthand that when we transform one person’s life with renewed sight, an entire community benefits.
Seva continues to push the envelope on new ways to think about and engage in the work.
A few months ago – Seva became a founding member of the World Health Organization’s flagship initiative, SPECS 2030 (Service, Personnel, Education, Cost and Surveillance.) We brought our unique approach to sustainable eye care for underserved communities to the global stage, heeding the support of governments and partners alike.
Although this may ‘feel’ like an overnight success, it is the result of decades of teamwork, commitment, and science.
In this edition of our newsletter, you’ll have a chance to meet Abdu, learn about our Native American Vision program, and hear from our youngest supporters – our Seva Youth Ambassadors. Each of these stories is an example of the positive changes your support has made to the lives of millions.
Yours in service,
Kate Moynihan
CEO/Executive Director
Because of your support, in 2023-2024, 555,075 Children were screened 58,635 Children received glasses 9,244 Children received surgery Thank you for supporting Seva! |
