A $1 trillion problem. A $50 solution.
Each year, vision loss robs low- and middle-income countries of an estimated $1 trillion in productivity. Yet we know that 90% of vision loss is preventable, often with solutions as simple as a pair of eyeglasses or a $50 cataract surgery. The evidence is unequivocal: restoring sight is not only a matter of health—it is one of the most effective poverty-fighting strategies we possess.
With your partnership, Seva is showing the world what these solutions look like in action. In Quiché, Guatemala—a community still healing from decades of civil conflict—we opened the region’s first eye hospital. In India, 65 new Vision Centers are bringing eye care to more than 4 million people. And in Tanzania and across the globe, thousands of people like Lemda are regaining their sight and reclaiming their futures every day.
True to our origins, these are world-class medical interventions—they are also stories of hope, resilience, and renewed possibility. Each one reflects the profound difference your support makes.
This year, Seva was honored to be welcomed into the Million Lives Collective, a global network of organizations recognized for transforming the lives of at least one million people living on less than $5.50 a day. This recognition affirms what you already know: our mission—to deliver vision care to those most often left behind—is both urgent and transformative.
Even in the midst of a rapidly changing global health landscape, we continue forward with clarity, courage, and resolve. Together, we are proving that progress is not only possible—it is real, it is lasting, and it is happening now.
Thank you for lighting the way.
Yours in service,
