India’s Envision Project, supported by Seva and Standard Chartered Bank, achieved its ambitious 3-year goal of creating access to eye care for 4 million people by establishing 65 Vision Centers across the country. Here’s a glimpse of the impact made so far:
- Widespread Eye Care Access: Nearly 400,000 individuals received eye screenings at Vision Centers, ensuring early detection of vision problems.
- Affordable Eyewear for All: Over 74,000 patients now have eyeglasses, improving their quality of life.
- Restoring Sight: 24,406 patients underwent crucial surgeries, with the majority receiving cataract procedures, helping them regain their sight and independence.
- Telemedicine’s Reach: 169,472 patients took advantage of telemedicine consultations, making eye care accessible even in remote areas.
In addition to the medical impact, the project has strengthened local economies by training 155 individuals who now work at Vision Centers, creating jobs and promoting sustainability. Gender inclusivity has been a key part of the initiative, with 27 female vision technicians leading Vision Centers. Their presence has encouraged more women and children to seek eye care, driving lasting change for future generations.
The Envision Project promises a brighter future for India’s communities.
