By the time you read this, a new eye hospital will have opened in Quiché, Guatemala. It’s part of Guatemala Brillando—a bold 10-year, $55 million initiative by Seva Foundation and partner-on-the-ground Visualiza to create the first self-sustaining national eye care network in Central America.
With four hospitals, 15 vision centers, and over 200 Guatemalan staff—including 34 optometrists and 22 ophthalmologists—Seva and Visualiza are showing what’s possible when wise investment meets local leadership. Each site becomes self-sustaining in just three years.
Seva brings decades of global experience, innovative tools like AI-assisted telemedicine, and life-changing access to affordable care.
The vision? Eight hospitals and 34 Vision Centers by 2032.
This model isn’t just working in Guatemala—it’s being shaped to scale worldwide, especially in low- and middle-income countries where treatable blindness is still far too common.
